March 28, 2000: Fomed registered with Hubei Provincial Administration of Industry and Commerce and announced the company's offical establishment. At the beginning of its long term commitment in the industry, the company rent a closed down primary school of less than 2000 square meters located in Zhu Gen Tan town, Qianjiang city, redesigned and reconstructed into a simple manufacturing facility of single-use disposable medical devices, and started the production of non sterile gauze swabs, spunlace non woven swabs and dental cotton filled sponges.
September 4, 2001: After many months of discussions with the local authority, Fomed came to sign the contract to acquire, at the price almost free, the covered land of 42,000 square meters and the covered building area of 14,000 square meters, along with the basic infrastructure falicities such as water supply system, power supply system and inside roads, that belong to the bankrupted "Huitong Ramie Industry Co Ltd " located in Hou Hu district, Qianjiang city. The sucessful contract signing marked an important milestone in Fomed hisotry and prepared the ground of lowest civil engineering cost for the coming competitiveness in the market.
May 2002: Fomed received and suceessfully passed the certification audit by TUV Product Service, a world known notify party, and was awarded the certificates ISO 9002 2000 and EN 46002, which represented Fohomed was entering into a professional quality assurance and quality control.
March to August 2002: It is the first phase of the infrastructure projects. Fomed hired the leading designing authority "china Central South Institute of Design" to redesign the ramie factory buildings into a medical device manufacturing falicity following international recognized GMP-guidelines.
September 14, 2002: Fomed was removed to its own new base of production and operations, Fomed set up a central labatory and 4 workshops, of which a machine-folding workshop of gauze products, a workshop of various hand-made products, a machine-folding workshop of non woven swabs, and a workshop of laparotomy sponges. Since then, Fomed has fully instituted a systemized production process and has greatly helped its production capacity and delivery power.
October 18, 2003: Fomed held a grand ceremony to celebrate the initial running of bleaching works, Mr LIU Xue-rong, chief executive of Qianjiang city and chief secretary of CPC Qianjiang Municipal Committee, attended the ceremony and gave his fiery and encourageous speech. The bleaching works are, in the second phase of the infrastructure project, equipped with the latest German technology and in-process computer control system, it dramatically increased Fohomed production capacity, while ensuring the whiteness consistently over 86 degrees and reducing the overall cost by 30%.
March 7-11, 2004: The Investigator Mr Kelvin Cheung of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration came to make a Routine Inspection covering FDA’s Quality System / Current Good Manufacturing Practice Regulations for Medical Devices (21 CFR Part 820). FDA investigator did not find any non-conformances during his factory inspection of 4 days. Fomed was the first company in its industry in the province who received and succesfully passed the inspection of FDA, who, we know, as a nonprofit organization, represents U.S government. It is generally accepted that FDA inspection is always as the most objective and toughest in the world.
November 9, 2004: Fomed acquired Qianjiang Formen Medical Products Ltd and reorganized the combination of the management team, which prepared the ground of technical force for the third phase of the infrastructure projects.
March December 2005: In the third phase of the infrastructure projects, Fomed started to improve the industrial pattern and upgrade the products mix, by extending its industrial chain and pushing forward its technical reform and innovations. More and more high value-added and technology intensive features have been built:
1. Clean Room verified to meet class 100,000 GMP standard, 2. ETO/Steam sterilization capabilities, 3. A workshop of fluff crepe gauze bandages like Kendall’s Kerlix, 4. A workshop of moulded cone face masks
These achievements prepared the ground of keeping Fomed competitive thanks to the vertically integraded process and adding more products and services to the customers.
July 28, 2005: The local authority Hou Hu district transfered to Fomed, at the bottom price, a piece of land of 18,500 square meters and its covered building area of 1,500 square meters. This land in the east can link together with the present west factory area. By the end of August 2006, the total covered land Fomed possesses reached 60,500 square meters with 28,000 square meters of the covered building area, which prepared the ground of land resources for Fomed's future sustainable development.
October 2005: Fomed Department of Sales and Marketing was relocated in Wuhan, so-called "chicago in China" which is also the largest inland river port and 2 hours drive away from Fomed factory, for the purpose to handle the customs clearance and shipping and to serve overseas customers more efficiently.
July 2006: Fomed received and suceessfully passed the annual certification audit conducted by TUV Product Service, a world known notify party, and was awarded the latest version certificates ISO134852003, CE marks, ISO11135 for ETO sterilization process, which proved Fohomed has been sustainably improved its quality assurance and quality control.
March December 2006: In the fourth phase of the infrastructure projects, Fomed continues to extend its industrial chain and bring in more technology intensive products and value-added services. We have built:
1. A workshop of sterilization reels and pouches self sealing and heat sealing, 2. A workshop of automatic form filled and seal packaging in Multivac version, 3. A workshop of automatic 3-sides sterile packaging in Multivac version, 4. A workshop of dental cotton rolls, probably the largest producer worldwide 5. A workshop of PBT conforming bandages (knitted or woven) like J&J’s Kling, 6. A workshop of combine ABD pad and gauze / cotton tissue,
These achievements prepared the sound ground of US$ 20 millions of annual export sales while keeping Fomed continuously competitive in the market and providing its customers with more value-added products and better services.
March December 2007: In the fifth phase of the infrastructure projects, Fomed scheduled to add more equipments to expand its production capacity, and to build up the following new projects:
1. A line of bleaching & dyeing works imported from U.K and equipped with in-proces computer control system. It is the unique  process in the same industry in China due to its continuous and synchronous bleaching and dyeing 2. A R&D centre along with a large and latest laboratory verified to meet class 10,000 operation room standard for microbiological est. It will greatly contribute to expand Fomed range of new products and to improve quality assurance. 3. An office building equipped with multi-media conference room, training classrooms and show room, 4. New accommodations such as one basktball court, two badminton courts, table tennis, billiards, board game room, gymnastic, lecture room, karaoke, etc
These achievements will prepare the sound ground of building up Fomed characteristics in the industry, and will make the staff happy to work in Fomed and then improve the enterprise cohesion and help the company’s sustainable growth. |
